Our Nurse Assistant Training Program offers students a chance to learn in a hands-on environment under the eyes of experienced licensed nurses, bolstered by a curriculum that meets or exceeds federal and state standards. All programs include some required online work that must be completed prior to your in-person sessions and a background/drug screening test must also be completed prior to clinical rotations. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Georgia CNA competency examination. After successful completion of the state exam (additional state testing fees may apply) you will be listed on the state Nurse Aide Registry. The state competency exam includes both a written examination and a skills evaluation. The purpose of the state exam is to make sure that the graduate understands and can safely perform in the role of an entry-level nurse assistant.
Course Information
The HeartCert Nurse Assistant Training course in Buford, Georgia has several components. Students must pass all portions of the training to graduate:
- Blended learning – Students will first complete 40 hours of online training required prior to the listed in-classroom dates. Access to the online material will be granted within one business day after registration. Those who do not complete the online portion will not be allowed into the in-person sessions and must reschedule.
- Classroom learning / lab – after completing the online portion of the class, students will attend 30 hours of lab skills training at our HeartCert classroom.
- After successful completion of steps 1 and 2 students will go to an approved clinical site for 30 hours of required onsite training. Background/drug screening (additional fees may apply) must be completed prior to this step.
- Upon successful completion students are then able to register for the state exam for state certification. All information for state testing will be provided after your course.
Prerequisites:
All candidates must pass a required background and drug test prior to clinical rotations as required per the state and clinical location. Additional fees may apply. You can do this with your own provider or we will provide several options. If you are unable to pass these tests you will not be able to continue to clinicals and complete the program and a partial refund minus the online course and current instruction received will apply.
Students must be 16+ years of age to attend training. Applicants must pass a criminal background check, provide a negative TB test result, pass a drug screen, submit two forms of ID (one must be Social Security card, one gov’t issued photo ID), and submit a cleared physical exam and immunization records– additional fees may apply. These items are due by the first day of in-person training and are required to attend clinicals. Forms will be provided in your confirmation email to complete. Scrubs are required for in-person sessions. Feel free to contact our office with any questions.
